How points and steps work

Points come from finishing coding steps anywhere they are set β€” challenges, course lessons and AI Lab modules all count. On Everything, each public code share is worth 15 points. The order reflects work done rather than time spent logged in; everyone here earned their place by writing code.

A step is one stage of a lesson β€” a lesson, a quiz, an exercise, a review lab or a mini project β€” and the harder ones are worth more: 10 points for reading a lesson, 15 for a quiz, 25 for an exercise, 30 for a review lab, and 40 or more for a mini project. Two people on the same number of steps can sit far apart on points, because the one who built things outranks the one who read about them.

A flag appears once someone chooses a country on their profile. It is never guessed from where you connect from, so an empty space simply means that person has not set one.

Learners ranked by points earned in Everything. Steps counts the lesson stages they have finished.
