Community Guidelines
iDevMeet is a place to learn to code, build projects, and find people to build them with. Rooms, private messages, the Discuss feed and the classrooms are all shared spaces, so they only work if people can trust each other in them. These guidelines describe what that means in practice, what happens when someone breaks it, and what you can do yourself. They sit alongside the Terms of Use, which are the binding rules.
What this place is for
Ask the question you think is too basic. Post the project that is half finished. Pair up with someone a year ahead of you, or a year behind. Most people here are learning, and a room where nobody is willing to look inexperienced is a room where nobody learns anything. Assume the person on the other side is trying, and answer the way you would want to be answered.
What is not allowed
These apply everywhere on iDevMeet โ rooms, private messages, the feed, blog posts, profiles, uploads and display names alike.
- Harassment. Targeting, demeaning or following someone around the site. Insults aimed at a person rather than an idea. Piling on.
- Hate. Attacking people over race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender, or sexual orientation.
- Sexual content. Explicit material, and any sexual content involving minors, which is reported to the authorities rather than merely removed.
- Impersonation. Passing yourself off as another member, a moderator, or iDevMeet itself.
- Threats and violence. Threatening harm, or encouraging others to.
- Malware and exploits. Sharing malicious code or files, or attacking the service, its users, or the sandboxes that run your code.
- Spam and manipulation. Bulk or repetitive posting, engagement farming, inflating streaks or leaderboard position, and interfering with advertising.
- Other people's work and privacy. Posting content you have no right to share, or someone else's personal information.
- Evading moderation. Returning under a new name after action was taken against you.
Tools you can use yourself
You do not have to wait for a moderator. Every message and post carries a Report action, which sends it to the moderation team with its context attached. In a private conversation you can block the other person, which stops them messaging you, or mute the thread if you would rather just stop being notified. Blocking is yours to decide and needs no justification to anyone.
How moderation works
Reports go to a small moderation team with the message text, the room or thread it came from, and who sent it. Depending on what happened, the outcome may be no action, removal of the content, a restriction on the account, or a ban. Serious cases โ anything involving minors, credible threats, or malware โ are acted on first and may be referred onward.
We do not promise that every report is reviewed immediately, and we will not always be able to tell you what happened to an account that is not yours. What we can say is that reports are read, and that repeated reports about the same account carry weight.
What you post
You keep ownership of what you write and upload. You do need the right to share it โ screenshots, music, images and code included. Anything you post in a public room or on the feed can be seen by other members and may be quoted or replied to, so treat it as public.
Code, AI answers and your own safety
Exercises, the code runner and the AI assistant exist to help you learn, and all of them can be wrong. Check anything that matters before relying on it. Never paste real passwords, API keys, recovery codes or tokens into a room, a code editor or a chat with the assistant โ not to us, not to a moderator, and not to anyone who asks you to. Nobody from iDevMeet will ever ask for your password.
If you think we got it wrong
Moderation decisions are made by people and people make mistakes. If something was removed or your account was restricted and you think it was an error, write to us from the Contact page with your display name and what happened, and it will be looked at again.
